RUUAH’s cookies work by increasing the nutritions that you consume while including lots of galactagogues (these are ingredients that naturally boosts the body’s ability to produce milk, but only if you are a nursing mom!) into each cookie. The ‘superheroes’ in each cookie are:
Oats are highly popular as a lactogenic food as it contains three major substances in promoting production of milk – Tryptophan, Polysaccharides, and Saponins. They are packed with proteins, vitamins, minerals and trace elements. Oats work well to promote satiety and uplift mummy’s mood.
Flax Seeds are excellent food for a nursing mom. It has phytoestrogens to stimulate breast milk production. The good amount of essential fatty acids in flaxseeds improves the quality of breast milk by increasing the fat content vital for the development of baby’s brain. Its high fiber content also prevents constipation and staves off hunger pangs to keep the tummy full longer.
Dates are highly nutritious. They contain calcium, iron, phosphorus, sodium, potassium, magnesium and zinc; and vitamins such as thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, folate, vitamin A and vitamin K which nourishes the body post-birth. Tryptophan, an essential amino acid to boost milk supply, is plentiful in dates.
Producing breast milk is hard work for the body. It requires increased energy needs by an estimated 500 calories per day! At RUUAH, we use dates as our main sweetening agent instead of regular sugar, as they are nutrient-dense and provide a good energy source for nursing moms (and athletes!).
Brewer’s Yeast is often dubbed as ‘Nature’s wonder food’. Rightly so, as it is nutritionally superior with high amounts of B vitamins iron, protein, chromium, selenium, and other minerals essential in producing quality breastmilk. Phytoestrogen, Polysaccharides and Chromium components in brewer’s yeast boost lactation for a better yield. It is a great supplement to help keep the body energetic and emotions in balance.
Chia Seeds are the nutritional powerhouse every nursing mom needs in her diet. They are high in fibre, protein, calcium and magnesium; all vital for baby’s bone and teeth development. More interestingly, chia seeds is the highest known food source for Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids. These play an important part in ensuring the healthy development of baby’s brain and nervous system.
Virgin Coconut Oil contains high amounts of Lauric Acid and Capric Acid, which when consumed, significantly increases the amount present in a nursing mother’s milk. This means that her baby gets increased antimicrobial protection from harmful virus, bacteria, yeast and parasites, thus boosting baby’s underdeveloped immune system. Aside from benefitting nursing babies, virgin coconut oil is a good source of energy, keeps you full for longer and helps burn off those stubborn belly fats.
Fennel Seeds contain phytoestrogens and tryptophan that helps increase milk supply.
